A Special Edition Route 66 Passport

CHICAGO, IL – Jan Svrcek and Marian Pavel, owners of Touch Media, have announced that phase one of a Route 66 centennial project has been completed. On the recent weeks long tour of Route 66 that included testing of the updated Route 66 Navigation app on Apple Car Play, Svrcek and Pavel met with tourism officials, business owners, preservationists, museum directors, and community organizers.

Before initiation of Route 66 centered projects the Touch Media corporation developed PR, digital marketing, and new media campaigns for corporate clients. The innovative Route 66 Navigation app that allows the traveler to follow the various historic alignments of Route 66 with or without mobile service is just one facet of their linked Route 66 projects.

The company also created a detailed e-book about Route 66 travel planning. Available in eight languages, this guide has introduced Route 66 to an international audience. Linked with this is the Historic 66 social media network, the largest forum for Route 66 discussion in the world.

In 2019 the company introduced the Mother Road Route 66 Passport. Designed as a customizable souvenir it also provides incentive for travelers to stop at visitor centers, participating businesses and museums.

Participating passport stops offer unique stamps and souvenirs. The passport also provides visitor centers with an opportunity to promote area restaurants, festivals, motels, and attractions.

The passport enhanced the Route 66 experience for travelers. It also provided participating businesses with a unique marketing opportunity. “Many Route 66 enthusiasts collect stamps in each edition of the Mother Road Route 66 Passport, so we’re happy to see that our Passport also increases the frequency of repeat trips to Route 66,” said Marián Pavel, from Touch Media.

Initial plans are for creation of a Route 66 Centennial Passport. As planned it will be sold separately from the annual edition of the Mother Road Route 66 Passport, will have additional content, and with a special gold cover, will become a valuable addition to the Route 66 enthusiasts’ collection.

The first planning sessions with the United States project team that includes illustrator Joyce Harbin Cole, and historian and author Jim Hinckley took place during the recent tour. The project was also discussed with tourism officials and organizers involved with development of Route 66 centennial events.

“We are open to all those who are interested in preparing unforgettable experiences for tourists when traveling on Route 66 as part of the centennial celebrations, and we are happy to welcome them to our project team,” adds Jan Švrček from Touch Media.

Priority for participation in the centennial passport will be given to current sponsors and people that have been supporting the Mother Road Route 66 Passport project. However, the centennial passport will represent a new and unique promotional opportunity for other businesses and communities as well.
